VSLA Borrowing and Selling As of 2022, Story of Zaitun Alli (Romogi sub-county)
- Zaitun Alli 38 years, has five children is a resident of Amatanga village, Barakala parish Romogi sub-county in Yumbe District. Ali became a member of Barakala VSLA group after understanding the VSLA vision mapping. Her goal was to become a business woman (selling vegetables). The group started in November 2017. Members share value is 2,000/= Ali in her first time applied for loan of 100,000/= in 2019 to start sale of vegetables at Barakala Market, after paying off the loan, she then applied for the second loan of 300,000/= and 3rd loan of 400,000/= respectively to increase her working capital.
- According to Ali, the loan did not only increased her capital but also indirectly increased her saving volume to maximum five shares from 1-2 shares every week and she is able to support her family from the profits she gets in sales of the vegetables. “my plan is to expand and improve my business, pay school fees for my children and save for my old age” she added. She encouraged her colleagues in the market to join groups if they want to prosper in their business.
